Mythologue - Project Start
Mythologue is the game I am developing for the Mythology Jam #1!
Take on the role of storytellers over countless generations, passing down myths in spoken form, be careful to recite these stories accurately, as any deviations you make might forever worm their way into the story!
Mythologue aims to imitate the process in which the majority of human myth propagated - Oral Histories. Rather than the myths being inscribed in stone, your senior storyteller recites to you the myth of your choosing and asks you to answer specific questions about it. Answers that are similar in their meaning to the original myth find their way into the myth itself, with any mistakes or changes you make, causing the story to evolve over time and adapt to your own way of storytelling!
In line with Mythology Jam #1's theme, the first category of stories available will come from Egyptian mythology, allowing you to learn myths such as Isis & Osiris.
Technical Details:
- Engine: Godot 4.2
- The main component of the game - the evolving myth - is going to call on python scripts in the back end of the application, using the NLTK python libraries to determine the semantic similarity between the expected elements of the myth, and the user's answers.
- Nouns, verbs and adjectives from a sentence will be compared and a score determined using a Dice-Sørensen coefficient, which will serve as a measure of the similarity of 2 chunks of myth.
- The user will be able to see how many times they have recited the myth - the "Generations" of myth, and a score noting how different the myth currently is compared to its original form, known as "Divergence".
